Healthy teeth from an early age

Children’s check-ups from £15

Children’s check-ups allow us to support growing smiles from an early age and promote positive dental experiences, giving our dentists the opportunity to monitor your child’s teeth, gums, bite and jaw as they develop and helping to spot signs of decay early.

Prevent decay before it starts

Fluoride treatment from £15

Fluoride varnish is designed to strengthen enamel in children’s teeth to help it become more resistant to tooth decay. It’s a quick, pain-free preventative treatment suitable for both baby and adult teeth and is particularly useful when children’s teeth are still developing.

Treat problems gently and early

Children’s fillings & dental care

If our exams find signs of decay, such as a cavity or a damaged tooth, we’ll treat it as conservatively as possible. Castle Dental offers a range of fillings and restorative treatments suitable for children, like fissure sealants, to help protect vulnerable teeth from decay.

Making dental visits feel normal

What happens at a children’s dental check-up?

Our goal is to help children become more comfortable visiting the dentist. Each visit is adapted to their age, confidence, and individual oral health needs.

  1. The examination: We’ll look at your child’s teeth and gums, check how their bite and jaws are developing, and look for signs of tooth decay or other problems.
  2. Prevention & protection: Depending on their age and risk of decay, we may recommend fluoride varnish, fissure sealants or extra help with cleaning.
  3. Advice for home: We’ll explain how your child can look after their teeth between visits, including brushing technique, fluoride toothpaste and practical advice.

If we find anything that requires treatment, we’ll explain it clearly to both you and your child and discuss the most suitable next step before proceeding.

Questions from parents

Children’s dentistry FAQs

How much does a children’s dental check-up cost in Lincoln?

Children’s examinations at Castle Dental start from £15. Children under six are seen free when attending with a paying adult.

When should my child first visit the dentist?

Children should ideally start visiting the dentist when their first baby teeth appear or around their first birthday. Starting early allows us to monitor their development and helps your child become familiar with the dental environment.

How often should children see a dentist?

This depends on your child’s oral health and risk of developing dental problems. Their dentist will recommend an appropriate interval after each examination; children who are more susceptible to decay may need to be seen more frequently.

Can children see the hygienist?

Yes. Hygiene care can help children improve their brushing, remove plaque and understand how to look after their teeth and gums. Whether a separate hygiene appointment is useful will depend on your child’s individual needs.

What if my child has toothache?

Contact us as soon as possible if your child develops a persistent toothache, swelling or a damaged tooth. Castle Dental offers children’s emergency appointments from £40, with same-day appointments available Monday to Friday where possible.
